Trim Bowls Club A. G. M. Report.

The A.G.M. was held on Monday 18th April, at 8 pm. in Brogans Hotel, Trim.
The Committee elected for 2011/2012 is as follows.

Following the Chairmans opening address, the Secretary's Report was read and accepted. Included in this two page report was the stastics for the year, during which the club finished second in Div. 2 and runner-up in the Abbeylands Cup. We also reached the semi-finals or finals of all Meath Zone Competitions. Another notable achievement was our team of Frank Dignam, Mick O'Looney, and Joe Fitzsimons winning the Skryne Open Trips.This was followed by the Treasurer's Report which shows a healthy balance despit major expenditure in the first year.
Among the motions passed was one to continue bowling during the Summer months. Other items discussed was Coaching, Outdoor Bowls, and Catering. Wishing all our members best wishes for the coming year.

Trim Team Wins Skryne Open Trips Tournament.

In the Final on Tues. 12th Apl. Trim (Mick, Joe, Frank) defeated the other Trim team in the Semi-Finals.
In addition two Navan teams met each other in the other Semi.
In the Final Trim defeated the Navan team of Angela Mooney, Michael Lynch and Johnny Murtagh

Trim entered two teams in the Skryne Trips Competition and both qualified for the Finals.
Trim team - Gerry and Gail Fitzsimons, Joe Marmion, defeated Clonmellon (Skip -J. Reilly)
Also Frank Dignam, Joe Fitzsimons and Mick O'Looney, defeated Wellington (Skip - L. Foley).

Abbeylands Cup Navan bt Trim in Final.

In the Final held in the Wellington Thurs. 14th Navan defeated Trim 4-0. We played well in first two games each team loosing by two shots, but "lost" it completely in final matches to a the better team. At first dissapointed, but in our first year to finish Runner-up in League Div. 2 and Runner-up in Cup - not too bad.

The semi-finals of the Abbeylands Cup was held in Skryne on Tues. 5th April.
Trim defeated Navan P & P. Navan defeated Kilmessan B.
Trim team - Gerry, Joe, Gail Fitzsimons, Joe Marmion, Frank Dignam, Mick O'Looney,
                    Dessie Cowap and Joe Donegan.
Date and venue for Trim V Navan Final to be fixed at the next Meath Zone meeting.

Trim A bt Kilmessan A in Abbeylands Cup.

On Thurs. 24th March Trim A sensationally beat Kilmessan A (Div. 1 Champions) in Kilmessan.
In the first match Francie Geraghty team beat Frank Dignam team 11 - 5, for 1 point.
After that it was all Trim, playing their best bowls this year.
Frank beat Francie Gorman 10 - 8.
Gerry Fitzsimons beat Francie Gorman team 11 - 7
and beat Francie Geraghty 12 - 7.
This match included a rare 7 shots in one end.
Trim won 3 - 1. (Overall 38 - 33). See photos in photo album.
The Semi-Finals will be on Tuesday 5th April, in Skryne.
The Semi-Finalists are Trim A, Kilmessan B, Navan, and Navan P.& P.

Second Place in Division 2.

Trim finished in second place behind Kilmessan in Div. 2 after Bohermeen beat Meath Hill 3 - 2 in their final game. Provisional finishing positions are -
Division 2. Winners - Kilmessan B 30.5 pts., 2nd - Trim 29.5 pts., 3rd - Meath Hill 26.5 pts.
Division 1. Winners - Kilmessan A. 2nd - Wellington. 3rd - Navan.
Division 3. Winners - Kilbride. 2nd - Skryne.

Active Retirement League.

The Club has entered a team in the Meath Active Retirement League.
Our first game was Away to Dunshaughlin on Friday 11th March at 10.30 am.
The result was a 1-2 defeat for our team.
Team: G.Fitzsimons, R.Downes, J.Marmion, J.Flynn. D.Cowap, M.O'Looney, A.McGrane, F.Callan.
Other games are - Home to Navan. Away to Ballivor. Home to Kilcock.

Meath Zone League - Up-Date.

Tuesday 15th March. The A team beat Bohermeen A 3 - 2.
This was not good enough to win Div. 2.
This gave us a total of 39.5 pts. Kilmessan have 40.5 pts.
Monday 21st - Meath Hill play Bohermeen B, which
will help decide Division 2 of the Meath Zone League.
Tues and Wed. Trim host The Meath Zone Pairs.

Trim Bowls Club presents THE GO FOR LIFE PERPETUAL CUP. See also Photo's Section.




The first Trim Bowls Club Go For Life Perpetual Cup was held in Trim G.A.A centre

on Tues. 1st March, and attended by over 50 bowlers and supporters.

This Bowls/Social event featuring a challange match between a Trim and Navan Selection

of over 55 yrs bowlers was deemed an outstanding success by all.

The match consisted of 4 teams of 4 bowlers each. A total of 32 bowlers (male and female).

A draw was made for the 4 mats and each team played two games of nine ends.

In the second match, each team played against different opposition on a different mat.

the Trim Skips were Gerry Fitzsimons, Joe Fitzsimons, Sean Fahey and Barney McKenna.

The Navan Skips were Jimmy Dolan, Shay Edwards, John Kerwick and Sean Cahill.

The result (the total score for all matches) was a 75 to 41 victory for Trim.

The match was followed by tea, sandwiches, etc., after which the Trim Bowls Club Hon Secretary

Joe Fitzsimons welcomed all, thanked those who helped organise the day, and

acknowledged the co-operation and assistance of Meath Local Sports Partnership, Go For Life c/o Age &

Opportunity Trim Town Council and Trim GAA. He then introduced the two guests of honour who made the

presentation. These were - our newly elected T.D. forWest Meath Mr. Ray Butler, and

Mr. Richard Farrell, Go For Life National Development Officer.

They presented the Cup to Dessie Cowap, Chairman Trim Bowls Club. In his remarks,

Mr Butler praised the organisers and noted that this was his first official duty since being elected.

Mr. Farrell expressed his delight at the success of the event and outlined the Go For Life FitLine program.

Phil Duffy spoke on behalf of Navan and thanked Joe and the club for a wonderful day.
